So, what’s all the fuss about setting intentions and why do people keep on doing it?
The truth is that intentions can help you a lot. In fact, many people claim that intentions have been life-changing for them. That’s the fuss.
Knowing that setting good intentions is such a powerful practice, based on my own experience and from speaking to others, I can share that setting good intentions helps you with:
Clarity and Focus
When you set good intentions, you define the direction you want to move in.
This kind of clarity gives you a sense of purpose and focus in what you do, what you think about, and the decisions you make.
- Imagine knowing what you want and being able to steer yourself clearly in that direction.
- Imagine waking up in the morning knowing exactly what you need to do to get to where you want to go.
- Imagine not sweating the small stuff that happens every day because you know that these are just minor blips in your greater journey in life.
- Imagine being able to move forward and get things done, even on days when you don’t feel like it or when things don’t seem to be going your way.
That, my friends, is clarity and focus.
And you get that from setting powerful intentions.
Achieving Goals
Good intentions tell you where the goal posts are so you can work out what stepping stones you need to hop across to score.
If something’s very important to you, take the time to set it as an intention. This helps you identify what you truly want and create a roadmap to achieve the things you want to achieve.
Intentions keep your dreams front of mind, eliminating distractions, aligning you with your goals, and encouraging you to keep going until you get there.
Mindfulness and Awareness
Intentions help you stay present in the moment, especially during the act of setting them and any time you’re actively working on them.
When you set an intention, you become more attuned to your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Such heightened awareness helps you recognize patterns, habits, and behaviors that might be supporting or stopping you from reaching your goals. Now you know what to keep doing and what to get rid of.
Forming Deeper Connections With Your Crystals
You have energy. Your intentions have energy (especially powerful ones). And crystals carry energy. A lot.
When all these energies are aligned and shining on the same path, you harness these immense powers and form a deep connection with your crystals and your intentions.
The shift can be subtle or tangible, but things change when these energies come together. At that point they’re no longer separate. They nourish and drive each other forward, making each one more powerful as part of a trio than it was when it stood alone.
This connection doesn’t only help you with your intentions – it helps you with anything that crystal can bring you.
For example, if you’re using rose quartz, your crystal helps you with intentions of love, romance, or emotional healing. Once connected, the rose quartz will bring you many more things in your everyday life thanks to the bond you now share.
If you have a crystal and want to know what it’s good for, check the menu at the top of this page. Find your crystal in the list of crystals from A to Z and click on it to see all the articles about that crystal. Next, click on the blog post that explains what that crystal brings or is good for.
If you don’t see your crystal in the menu, sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of this page (you’ll also get free access to my resource library). Then reply to my email and let me know what crystal you need me to write about and I’ll do my best to write about it.
Cultivating A Positive Mindset
Positive intentions make you more optimistic and hopeful for the future. Things always look brighter when you have something to look forward to, don’t they?
Focusing on positive outcomes trains your mind to see possibilities and opportunities, even in the most challenging situations.
This shift in perspective improves your overall emotional well-being and resilience.
Next time you’re down or feeling unmotivated, take out your journal or your crystal journal, wherever you set your intentions, and read them out loud several times.
Remind yourself what you’re working for, and imagine what it will be like when you get there.
Manifesting Amazing Things
Good intentions manifest things.
When you plant seeds in the ground, you know what to do to get them to grow: you water them, make sure they get sunshine, maybe even talk to them a bit.
Even though you can’t see anything above the soil for days or weeks, you know there’s a lot going on under the surface.
Well, setting good intentions is like planting seeds in the fertile soil of your consciousness.
And when you take care of these seeds by believing in them, using the right crystals when setting intentions and journaling about them, and putting time, energy and effort into them, intentions turn into real results that you can touch and feel.
Good intentions manifest amazing things.
Empowering Yourself
Setting good intentions empowers you to take control of your life.
You can’t set good intentions if you don’t know where you’re going and you don’t work on them. If that’s what’s happening then they’re not intentions.
They’re just hopes or dreams you talk about sometimes, when you let yourself open up a bit. We’ve all been there.
Good intentions act as reminders that you have the ability to shape your experiences in life, as well as your responses to people and events.
When you set intentions, and you make them powerful, you acknowledge your ability to create, change, and influence your circumstances.
Aligning Your Values
Intentions help you live in line with your core values, which makes you a much more balanced and fulfilled person.
One of the biggest supporters of core values is Dr John DeMartini (I love his work), who says:
Living congruently with what you value most, your highest or core values, is the key to mastering your life and feeling the deepest fulfilment in life. [source]
If you don’t know what your values are or where to start, answer these 13 questions on his website to find out what’s most important to you in this life stage.
Then set your intentions based on these values.
Personal Growth
I’ve never met anyone who sets intentions but doesn’t want something more in life or to grow personally.
If you’re here reading this, then it’s safe to say that you are seeking personal growth.
Setting good intentions can give you this, you just need to be clear about what sort of personal growth you want to experience (and know that it will come with growing pains – those are part of the journey).
When you set off on a path of growth and development, and you actively take part in self-exploration and learning, you are contributing to your own personal evolution.
Once done, be sure to rinse and repeat with more intentions.
Improving Your Relationships
Good intentions are great for relationships. Be it the one you have with yourself, your partner, your family, your pets, your colleagues, or anyone else in your life.
You might want better communication, stronger connections, a better understanding of what others are going through, or more understanding for what you’re experiencing.
Set good intentions for the things you struggle with in relationships, choose and use crystals that help you with these specific hurdles, and start enjoying more rewarding interactions with others.
